Five ways to make a day of it at Netball London Live 2018!

There is just one month to go until Storm’s biggest match of the season at the Copper Box Arena on June 23rd!  Thanks to the legacy of the 2012 Olympic Games, the Copper Box Arena is surrounded with great entertainment so why not make a day of it – here are our top 5 ideas of things to do on June 23rd before coming to experience some amazing netball.

  1. Take a trip to Westfield Stratford City

Westfield Stratford City is Europe’s largest urban shopping and leisure destination and is located less than one mile away on foot from the Copper Box Arena.  There are over 250 shops and 80 places to eat and drink so why not indulge in a bit of retail therapy before hitting the main arena.

  1. Explore the ArcelorMittal Orbit

The ArcelorMittal Orbit stands tall as the UK’s tallest sculpture, part of the Olympic legacy that transformed East London, and a landmark in its’ own right.

Explore the red lattice tower and take lifts 80m up to the viewing platforms to get a unique view of London.  If you’re feeling brave, then ride the world’s tallest and longest slide – it’s not for the faint-hearted!

  1. Follow the 2012 trail

Fancy something a bit more relaxing? Then relive and celebrate the thrill of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games with the London 2012 Trail – you’ll hear the sounds of Team GB and ParalymicsGB success and get active as you see how you measure up against the best sporting stars in the world!

  1. Take to the water like a duck….or a swan!

Did you know that the River Lea runs through the centre of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park?  And what’s more, you can now take boat tours along the river or even hire your own swan pedalo!

Don’t forget to book in advance for this one, but it’s sure to be lots of fun.

  1. Watch Netball London Live!

And of course, finish your day watching Surrey Storm vs Loughborough Lightning!  Doors open at 4pm on Saturday June 23rd and there’ll be lots happening from the word go!  So, come down early and soak up the atmosphere.

There’ll be netball on the main court, face painters, selfie mirrors, reaction games and much more! You may even see the odd Superleague player roaming around… From 6pm you’ll get your first sight of our amazing Superleague players as they warm up on court and first centre pass is at 7pm.

Watch England Netball Commonwealth Games Gold Medal Winner, Beth Cobden, take to the court, along with other Commonwealth netballers Sigi Burger, Shamera Sterling and Peace Proscovia.  Both squads are packed full of super talented stars!
